For my 98,000 page hits celebration, I am bringing up an animated 3D version of one of my very favorite Japanese snacks: the *glorious* Meiji Almond Chocolate. I made a physical simulation of a *big* pile of those boxes falling down into a wooden chest. Amazingly, the entire simulation calculated in only a couple of seconds! ^____^

This deviation involved 3D modeling, texturing, animation, rendering, physical simulation, programming, music composition, creating a user interface, and then putting it all together into a single animation. All of my older animations were created with pure ActionScript3, but this is the 1st time I used Flash CS4 Pro instead. Keep reading if you want to know why.

I have been programming ActionScript3 (AS3) for months now, but its inability to embed video into the projects was a real disappointment to me. Which forced me to switch to Flash CS4 Pro, which allows embedding basically anything into the projects. Since dA only allows uploading single file Flash animations, this is the only option to me when it comes to projects that use video (like this one).

Tell you the truth, timeline programming is a pain the back, but the advantages of a visual drag-and-drop environment comes as a plus. I noticed this new Flash CS4 Pro seems to have a bug with its Sound class, where pausing and resuming the background music results into a corrupted playback. Because of that I cannot resume mutted music but instead I have to play it from the beginning here. Hope Adobe will eventually fix this because Flash CS4 wasn't cheap! LOL

Box was modeled in 3DSMAX and physical simulation and rendering were done in Poser. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!
