This is the commission work I have been working on for the last couple of days. It's the Cobra V uniform for AnimeDoll with a few extras, like the headset and beret. Modeled in 3DSMAX and here rendered in Poser with default toon mode.
One of the advantages of testing a new model with this toon shader is that it is very unforgiving to modeling mistakes. It will show every little geometry problem so I cannot get away with it. It also renders in real-time, which is very convenient.
I have studied celshading for almost a whole year in this attempt to understand how to create the best one for 3D. In the end the biggest challenge is not even the celshading itself, but instead generating sharp outlines. As you can see here, Poser's default toon shader fails to produce solid outlines, and most other programs fail in the same way. The best one I know is "Ink n Paint" for 3DSMAX. ^^
well great work. I need too do some research for my self. just fond out I was using the cel shader in xsi wrong and that it way more powerful then i first though. Just can find a tut most peoples show of what the did and only show how to do the ending part
