~Legend of the PM-AS Droids~
In the year 2087, a new planet was discovered in a nearby galaxy, but strangely, no life signs were detected. Ruins of entire cities were found, where ancient artifacts displayed advanced stage of technology and civilization. But what happened to the people?
At first it was suspected that they were victims of self-annihilation through nuclear holocaust, but geological analysis revealed no traces of residual radioactivity. Eventually, written records were found in bunker-protected libraries, and translations were started immediately.
Legend claims there was once a new kind of terminator droid: the ones equipped with a new and lethal "PM-AS" chipset! Ideal for combat situations, the PM-AS chips add to uncontrollable anger and savage aggressiveness. Droids equipped with this new technology demonstrated amazing powers of destruction.
However, the technology was not perfect and there were side effects. Whenever the chip was activated, the droids had difficulty discerning between friends and foes, occasionally discharging uncontrollable rage against the wrong targets for no apparent reason.
It was initially believed that the occasional control glitches were the result of a bug in the chipset design, but the generals were actually pleased with the added firepower that came with the bug. As a matter of fact, the new chip was considered a success among the military circles.
The generals were still convinced that this bug could be used to their advantage in combat situations, because the glitches only happened during a few days during each month, after which operations apparently came back to normal.
Conversely, history has proven them wrong. Whenever the PM-AS droids went berserk, they caused huge amounts of casualties, attacking whatever came into their way - to include others of their own kind. In time, the PM-AS chip brought total annihilation to the entire planet, where not even animals and birds were spared.
In the last days of this advanced civilization, one of the last survivors left a graffiti writing on the walls of a ruined building, which loosely translates into something like "PM-AS bitches", followed by other words not found in their own language dictionaries. Scientists are still trying to decipher their meanings.
Mummified remains of what appears to be some kind of bio-mechanical humanoid female cyborgs were found all over the ruins. The specimens were found in a poor state of preservation, where many seem to have been destroyed by others of their own kind. It is assumed that those are the droids that were responsible for this tragedy, and their PM-AS chips were retrieved for further analysis by the military authorities.
