PS: I had terrible aliasing issues when editing levels on a transparent layer here. Will respost with a better version later when I get the time. The way I am doing it here is to blur the edges to eliminate the white noise, but that often results into losing small details and I hate it. If anybody here knows how to avoid edge aliasing (white-ish outlines) after editing levels/color correction in PaintShop Pro, please send me a note.
*ponderponder* I'm not sure about PSP specifically, but here are a couple of things I do for my layers that help a lot with the sort of trouble you're having...
I usually try to render things with a bright green background like a movie green screen instead of white; it really cuts down on the dilution of your object edges and makes for a better contrast with the background. You may want to experiment with different background colour.
One of the easier ways to blend just the border is to make a duplicate of that layer and blend the object underneath while the upper image still maintains its sharpness.
You might want to try messing around with the tolerance settings on colour select or soft area select also and just get rid of the background completely.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
