~TradeArt for SeaSapphire~

This is my part for an art trade with :iconsea-sapphire: where I tried to make her Maru character in bishounen style. Here [link] is the reference pic I used and I have to say male characters are a nightmare because 3D resources for them are basically non-existant. He seems to wear period clothes from the 19th century or so, but this is all I had in hands. *sigh*

She drew 2 of my characters: Madoka and Huuki, and you can see [link] that it came out quite nicely. :D

Figure used here was Hiro3 (like there is any other option!). Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

Thank you, I am really glad you liked how this came out. I actually didn't have much choices for the outfit, which is typical for 3D male characters. Yours was the last one I finished and it was the one that took me the longest because of the serious lack of 3D resources for male characters. I can tell you I barely made it... ^^

Wow! xD Thanks for all the effort. I'll be sure to request a female character if we ever decide to do another art trade in the future. ^.^

LOL next time I better check my resources throughly before taking male characters. ;)
I thought I had what it takes but in reality there weren't any choices for the clothing. ;p

Heehee. ^.^ Oh, well. You did a great job, though!
One question: Where do you get your resources from? I'm dabbling in 3D art as well.

I have been using Poser since version 1.0 over 11 years ago, and the Poser market has become huge ever since. I get resources from freebies, buy some others and also create my own contents for Poser. Since 2005 I have created all sorts of things, like props, textures, clothes, hair and even whole new figures. After over a decade you can imagine my 3D resources got quite large, but still not so much when it comes to male characters. Poser market still prefers to concentrate on female products and there aren't many male figures to start with. Some things never changed...

Ah... That make sense. Since 3D graphics are primarily used in video games, which cater mostly for the male market (if that makes any sense). Therefore mostly resources for female models are in abundance...
Well, ok then! Thanks for the info! ^.^

The video game market has indeed been targeting the male public, but 3D artists are often women, and they also avoid male characters for a variety of reasons - to include the dA artists from all kinds of medias. Some of the female artists (not only from 3D media) I asked told me they don't know male anatomy good enough to draw them, or that they prefer the more familiar female bodies for other reasons. As a matter of fact, there is a large amount of female Poser artists out there, but only a very small portion of them is doing make characters. Go figure...

Poser uses much higher res models, and the SIMS rigging will not work with anything else by that game. In the same way, 3DSMAX and Maya character rigging only work within the respective programs. Besides, Poser figures need to be supported by the 3D community or they will have no hair or clothes to wear. So far the community has only supported female figures, so... -___-
